Yallaroo
Yallaroo, which means Beautiful Flower, is a descendant of Bardi and Yawuru
tribes of northwest Australia.
She spent her youth growing up around Broome and Derby until 1966 when she and
her husband began travelling, becoming kangaroo shooters in Queensland.
In 1988 Yallaroo began printing the stories she had been told so that her children could understand their
Aboriginal Culture.
All her paintings are made up of a combination of x-ray, cross-section, herring
bone and dots methods universal in Aboriginal art, although Yallaroo has developed her own dot pattern
system.
