| Page: Josephine Smith |
Josephine Anne Smith was born
in Harrow, England and was trained at the Ealing College of Art in London. She now lives and works in
Australia.
A direct descendant of Holman Hunt, the founder of the Pre-Raphaelite movement of painters, her work is noted for
its fine attention to detail and authenticity, combined with sympathetic interpretation of all living
creatures.
Her works have been published by London's leading publishers and are widely
distributed throughout private collections in Europe, America, Japan and Australia.
From her studio situated in natural bushland north of Sydney, Smith makes the most of her constant
opportunities to study Australian flora and fauna, and observes closely the beauty and wonderful antics of over 70
varieties of birds throughout the year.
