Lyn Mellady
Lyn Mellady was born in Quirindi, New South Wales, in 1946. Her parents encouraged her love for drawing, books and ballet.
In 1965 she gained a distinction for art as her major subject during her study to become a school teacher. Whilst pursuing a teaching career and raising a young family she also took art classes with Don Mitchell.
She held her first exhibition in 1977 and in 1981 retired from teaching to paint full-time.
Although Mellady has used most mediums with success, her preference is for pastels and oils, and she has conducted workshops and given demonstrations for art societies and art shows. She has won many awards and her works hang in public, corporate and private collections here and overseas.
